Born in 1920, in Milan, where he lives and works. Architect, town planner, and designer. Member of CIAM (1956). San Luca Academician (1967). Since 1983 he is the Honorary Fellow at the Royal College of Art in London, where he was appointed Honorary Professor in 1990 and Senior Fellow in 1996. In 1986 he became Fellow Honoris Causa of RIA.S. in Aberdeen. In 1992 he was appointed Honorary Royal Designer for Industry of R.S.A. in London. “Laurea ad Honorem in Disegno Industriale”, Milan Polythecnic (2002). Member of Scientific Committee “Fondazione Politecnico di Milano” (2003). Among the several awards he was given: (a double award) gold medal at the 9th Triennale in 1951; “Gold Compasses” in 1967; two “Gold Compasses” in 1979; “Gold Compasses for his Career” in 1995; two gold medals and two silver medals at the Wiener Möbelsalon International in 1970; “Golden Chair” at the Möbelsalons in Köln, 1982; Gold Medal at S.I.A.D. in London; gold medal as “Design Apostle”, Milan, 1997. He partecipated in exhibitions and held conferences in Europe, America and Japan. His design pieces are shown in permanent collections exhibited at MOMA in New York and in other American and European museums. Amongst his works in architecture we may mention: in Milan: the church in QT8 district; the Park Tower in Via Revere; the tower in Piazzale Aquileia; house in Via San Marco, the premises of the Department of Biology at the State University, MM subway depot in Famagosta. In addition: villas in Azzate, Ghiffa, Arenzano, Carimate. The Town Hall in Cusano Milanino.
